Mission Fields

AFRICA

D.R. CONGO: Mary Watson: "Berta Foster and I have written devotional booklets for the deaf to read during their two-month vacation, July and August. Booklet One explains the vocabulary of salvation: What is sin? What is forgiveness? What is Salvation? Etc. "Booklet Two is more on how to live to please the Lord. The deaf memorize and recite verses to the Principal of the school, in order to have their very own booklet (60+ pages) to take home for the vacation. The deaf are excited to have pictures of signs illustrating the meaning of the verse on each page. We are excited that the deaf want to read the Word of God! "We have just sent out 94 booklets to the deaf in four schools in D.R. Congo who recited new verses this year to have their booklets. We pray for the Lord to use His Word in their hearts and in the hearts of their families and friends with whom they share the booklets!" [MSC]

RWANDA: Peter Andrews and his son Chris are leaving for Rwanda on 2nd July, via Tanzania and Burundi. Jenny will join them during the next few weeks and she and Peter plan to stay until 3rd September. Chris is returning to the UK on 11th August. Pray for safe travel and that their visit will be a blessing to the believers. [EoS]

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA:  Dr Terry and Jane Gilpin say they have a busy month lined up in the assembly. The first activity will be a men’s Bible Week commencing on Monday 26th June and going on till Friday. They expect about 50 men to attend, at a nearby campsite. Later on, from 7th to 9th July, there will be a combined youth conference at Elim, with 150 attending. Terry will be giving teaching on “The Second Coming”, and would appreciate your prayers.  [EoS]

SUDAN: Hani Issac: "Dear praying Brethren - Pleas bear up our sister R.J from Europe as she desire to help and serve the Lord in the medical field in Sudan.Please pray that she can get the Visa.In Him, Hani" [eMail]

ZAMBIA: Vickie Saunders: "This morning I woke to an e-mail message from my sister Linda saying 'Mom is in the hospital, call me immediately.' It is not looking good for my Mom right now. She had to be rushed by ambulance to the hospital yesterday afternoon. Her right lung is only working at 1%; no mention of the left. They said the only thing they can do is put her on a ventilator and that if they do, she will never come off it.Please pray for the Lord to do His will and that we will accept whatever that is . . . "It looks like I will be changing my flight and flying to Canada on Sat [July 1]. I literally have about an hour to pack and organize, so this has to be short. Please pray all the doors will opened and that things will go smoothly." [MSC]

ZAMBIA:  Margaret Hewitt (DPG Zambia 1958-02) requests prayer for a girls’ camp to be held the first weekend of July. Pray for safety in all the activities and for the Lord’s blessing on all that is done. [EoS]

AMERICAS

BOLIVIA: Eugene & Loraine Train:  "The mid-year [school] vacation will be June 19 to July 2. It is an opportunity for us to do visitation in the rural areas. Please pray for the different communities and the ministry that we can share with them. We have been especially invited by the Guarani in Tentayapi. [MSC]

BRAZIL: Joseph & Ilza McClelland: "During the third week of July we will be having our Teen Camp. The theme for this year is going to be missions, as there is a great need for our young people to become useful in the Lord's hands, reaching out to others with the great news of salvation in Jesus Christ."  [MSC]BOLIVIA: Enoel Suarez: "We are really busy getting things organized for the team - yes, a team from Canada (from Southdale Bible Chapel in London, Ontario)! They plan to arrive this weekend, and they will help us to continue with the building project at the campsite.  "We received a phone call tonight, and apparently the flight schedule has changed due to problems with the Bolivian airline company. This means that the team will arrive one day later than expected. Please pray about this situation . . . that the schedule would not change again! Also, pray for their safety and that it would be a profitable time of serving the Lord and reaching out to others." [MSC]

NICARAGUA: Tony & Danelle Flett:  "We had a baptism in Jinotepe. It was a first in this town, and we are grateful to the Lord for the work He is doing there. Please pray that the work will continue to grow and an assembly testimony will be established in the near future." [MSC]

MEXICO:  Eglon and Judith Harris advise that elections are being held in Mexico on 2nd July. Two parties are well in advance in the polls, one of which is pro-Roman Catholic and of the right. The other, which is prominently left, is procuring votes by gaining popularity with the poorer majorities, which could easily provoke riots if the party loses. If either party gets into power, there will most certainly be confrontation of some kind or another, leading to unrest. The more moderate parties are losing popularity. Please pray for a peaceful outcome and continued freedom for the gospel. [EoS]

PUERTO RICO: John & Sara French: "We made arrangements to go with some of the believers to clean out the Gospel Hall in Bayamon which has been closed for some years. We have been praying for some time for someone who speaks Spanish and has some Biblical training to come and visit the neighbors. Please help us pray fervently for this need, so as not to abandon this testimony." [MSC]

ASIA

INDIA:  Ian Elliott is unwell at the moment. He has a very sore and swollen leg, and it is suspected he has cellulites. Please pray that he will soon recover from this. [EoS]

JAPAN: Peter Clift: "On June 18 we wrote saying that we hoped that Bob might be approved for release somewhere in the 20th, 21st or 22nd [of June] when Peter went down to Nagoya to see him . . . Well, the catheterization was done on the 23rd, the numbers were into the 'acceptable' range, his physical rehabilitation was proceeding acceptably, (and his parents were getting jumpy!), so on the night of the 26th, the chief surgeon, Dr. Ando, gave us the 'getting-out explanation' (literally translating), and cut him loose. He's an eminent med school professor, however, so he wants to see Bob a year from now for tests to determine the effectiveness of the surgery and the follow-up. With that, we said good-bye to the doctors, nurses and other patients on the cardio-pulmonary vascular surgical floor, and came home on the 27th . . . After leaving the Fujita Hospital in Nagoya, we had the 4-hour drive home, and Bob decided he felt good enough to go the long way . . .  Bob held up well through it all, and it sure was a lot more stimulating than the 4 walls of his hospital room! Then that night, Bob took us out for sushi!

"So, what's next? Bob's underlying clotting disorder APS remains, of course, and for that we'll be going to one of the top APS specialists in the country quite soon. He already saw Bob in March. Rehabilitation of atrophied muscles is also a priority, and if Bob's hike back from the local hospital this morning is any indication, he'll be pushing himself. Mary and I plan to continue on teaching in Bob's place in Sakae Village through about July 20, but he may put in an appearance to say thanks for all the cards and origami folded paper cranes." [MSC]

EUROPE

IRELAND: Colin & Rosemary Sheldon: "This academic year has been very worthwhile in teaching 'Bible Explorer' to children aged 10 to 12 in the classrooms of SW Dublin. In total, Colin has taught 1584 children over 300 hours in 24 Primary Schools. It never ceases to amaze us to see children getting excited about the Bible." [MSC]

IRELAND: Elizabeth Goebel:  "Several contacts from the street work have regularly attended a Bible study of the Gospel of John over the last six months. Most are immigrants and find it a place of encouragement and friendship as well as a time of discipleship. One of the women professed salvation a few months ago." [MSC]

NORWAY:  Nat Rodgers asks us to pray for his wife Jennifer, who will undergo surgery on 13th July. Prayer is also requested for some of the prisoners who used to attend Nat’s Bible Study, who have recently been released. They were each given a New Testament and details of an evangelical church they could contact. Some have professed to be saved and will especially need our prayers.  [EoS]

NORWAY:  Mrs Margaret Hewitt requests prayer for one of her neighbors, who is in her 50s and has three tumors on her brain. She has been operated on for the third time, and due to restricted movement on her right side, is wheelchair bound. One of her sons has MS. [EoS]

SPAIN: Gil & Carolyn Vargas: "As prisoners profess Christ, they need our prayers to use their time wisely, to have victory over long-ingrained bad habits, and to be a good testimony to the other inmates of the grace of God. Pray especially for those who are then released and go back to their families and countries. The adjustment is very difficult." [MSC]

SPECIAL AREAS:

Please remember the following GLO Teams which are involved in evangelistic outreach activities this coming week: Tanzania (Moshi); Italy (Santa Maria a Vico and Naples). Please pray that the team members will enjoy safety of travel and good health during this time. In addition, please pray for a good working relationship within the team, that meaningful contacts will be made, and for lives to be touched by the gospel. [EoS]

Sath Gamaya reaches 50th Episode
AV Ministries

The Malayalam Christian Music and Gospel Talk-Show, Sath Gamaya telecast the 50th Episode on  Friday,  30 June 2006 through the Malayalam Channel  "People TV".  Indeed, this was the Lord’s doing, and marvelous in our eyes.

When the first telecast was launched on 9 June 2005, a passionate vision and an unwavering faith in the ONE who commissioned us were our capital.  Hitherto HE has helped us. Hallelujah!  Behind this accomplishment were your consistent prayer and sacrificial support. Our eyes are filled with tears of gratitude and hearts with praises to our Master.  We are grateful to the Lord for each one of you.

The program was initially on Kairali TV, and later on moved to People Channel (Kairali TV’s News Channel) both owned and operated by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Today, People Channel is one of the most well-received Malayalam channels, worldwide.  According to  estimates, Sath Gamaya is viewed by at least 1 Million Malayalees (Malayalam speaking people from the South Indian State of Kerala) worldwide. Even if we take it as  more than 100,000 regular viewers, we are grateful to the Lord for such a number of captive audience, which, indeed, is worth our investments.

We have several testimonials from acclaimed atheists, alcoholics, divorcees, and those who were all set to commit suicide, narrating their life-transforming experiences and personal encounters with Jesus Christ because of Sath Gamaya  telecasts. They are immensely thankful to the Lord for the life-changing programs of Sath Gamaya, that changed the destiny of their lives.

God willing, In the coming weeks Sath Gamaya  will be richer and better for your soul.  Please make it a habit to watch this unique show with your family and friends. Make it known to as many people as you can.

We also invite  your suggestions and creative criticisms. Together let us strive, that all may know the Truth and we could see many lasting fruits in eternity.

Missionary Support Partnership
["GO" (Mk 16:15) or "SEND" (Rom 10:15)]
commences supporting missionaries

Missionary Support Partnership (MSP) seeks to encourage and support  qualified local missionaries, who are commended or awaiting commendation by Assemblies of the Lord's people (the so-called "brethren"), and are carrying out the Great Commission among their own people and culture in North India and the Africa continent.

MSP does this by forging a PARTNERSHIP, and acting as a channel of flow, between Missionaries and Support Partners who have a burden for mission and exercise their stewardship faithfully by regular spiritual and financial support.

MSP makes the needs of these missionaries known to brethren world-wide and reminds them of their stewardship responsibilities of praying and supporting for the needs of missionfields.
MSP, which is a faith ministry, believes that the responsibility for mission is the LORD's and therefore it seeks to depend and wait upon the LORD to move His people to meet the needs of His missionaries.

We praise the Lord for His provisions through His people - effective July 2006,  MSP, is arranging to distribute financial support EVERY MONTH to FORTY missionaries who are active in the missionfields of the following North Indian States:

*   West Bengal  (20)
*   Jharkhand  (12)
*   Bihar  (5)
*   Tripura  (2)
*   Mizoram   (1)

The amount of support varies depending on the marital status of the missionaries.  For those missionaries who have families to support, the amount is Rs. 1,500 per month and for others, it is Rs. 1,000 per month.  The support is being distributed through Kerala Evangelistic Missionary (KEM) Fund (Veloor, Kottayam 686005, Kerala, India) which has been faithfully managing and disbursing funds to Brethren Assembly-commended missionaries in India over 60 years.  KEM Fund has kindly agreed to receive and hold funds remitted by our Support Partners for distribution to the North Indian Missionaries designated by MSP.

Gospel Missions of India (GMI) (a US IRS approved 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax exempt, religious organization that supports Christian workers and ministries in India associated with the Brethren assemblies) has also kindly agreed to channel funds, remitted by our Support Partners in the United States, to the MSP supported missionaries in India.  Funds remitted to GMI may qualify for possible US tax deductions.  For details, please contact GMI through eMail: gospelmi@wowway.com or visit their Website at www.gospelmissionsofindia.org.

MSP welcomes you to be a Support Partner.  For more details, please send us an email to: missionport@gmail.com.

MSP also requests you to keep bearing it, its Support Partners and the Supported Missionaries in your valuable prayer.
