AFRICA

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA:  Rodney Brown has recently completed two weeks of gospel meetings at Wellington. The assembly members had been busy advertising the event, and a good number of folk attended. Please pray that the Lord will even now speak to some who listened to the gospel. [EoS]

ZAMBIA: Don & Elva Brooks: "We have girls' camps coming up in both May and June, and a boys' camp at the end of June, plus senior boys in July. We appreciate prayer as we try to organize these camps and also prayer for the preparation of the hearts of those who will attend - counsellors, campers and speakers." [MSC]

ZIMBABWE: Phil & Marilyn Barnes: "I would appreciate your prayers for Friday morning ladies' Bible studies. It is a very interesting group of ladies. Four of them are alcoholics, one was physically abused, and several here are very new believers. It makes for some very interesting discussions!" [MSC]

AMERICAS

BRAZIL:  Walter and Elizabeth Alexander are grateful to those who have prayed for their daughter-in-law, Marisaura, during her radiotherapy. This stage of her treatment is now complete, but she will be dependent on medication for the next five years. Please continue to remember her, especially later this month as she undergoes tests to find out how effective the treatment has been. [EoS]

COLOMBIA: Gary & Vivian Michael: "Our AWANA club, which is just two months old, is still very exciting and challenging with over 80 children out last Saturday and with well over half of them not children from the chapel. Pray for the necessary workers to deal effectively with so many children and that the Lord would open their hearts to the Gospel and the Lord's love." [MSC]

EL SALVADOR: Wayne & Veronica Guindon: "We felt we had to move out [after being robbed at gunpoint outside our house]. We are now staying with friends in the town until we can find a safe house . . . With the high incidence of kidnapping in this country and us being prime targets, we do not know what our future is in this country right now. There have been a lot of these assaults going on in our town.

"We do not want to leave prematurely but at the same time I have to think about the safety of my wife and children. A quick exit would not be possible at any rate as immigration papers have to be filed, etc. So we need your prayers for our future. We are praying for true guidance as to what to do. We do not like the thought of leaving the church the way it is, but we have to act wisely." [MSC]

NEW CALEDONIA:  Stephen and Janice Schooling tell us that an event is planned for 13th and 14th May when Christians from New Caledonia will be meeting together with Christians from the Cook Islands and Samoa for a time of repentance, reconciliation and thanksgiving. This is being held in memory of the Polynesian evangelists who first brought the gospel to New Caledonia in the 1840s, some of whom were martyred. Pray that the event will go ahead without any hindrances. [EoS]

USA, TEXAS:  Gospel Missions of India (GMI) - Annual Presentation of Assembly work in India.

ASIA

HONG KONG: Sheldon & Nisa Crutchfield:  "We have been encouraged by seeing some saved in the small English-speaking assembly in Hong Kong, which is now meeting in our home. Three ladies have asked to be baptized and we will probably have a baptism in May." [MSC]

INDIA:  Paul and Angie Dodds say that the children at Hebron School are gearing up for exams. This time their own daughter Emily is doing her GCSEs. Please pray for the students at this important time in their lives. [EoS]

INDIA: We have been advised that Ravi Kumar - Travel Secretary at Hebron School, Ootacamund - was called Home to be with the Lord on 1st May. Please pray for his wife, Sheba, and his children: 11 year-old Debby and Daniel, aged 9. Pray, too, for his mother, his sister and 5 brothers. [EoS]

PAKISTAN:  Please pray for Sylvia Anderson who will be missing her two Japanese colleagues for the next two months, as well as a short-term doctor who has returned home. Pray that Sylvia will enjoy better health than of late, and that she will be able to sustain the daily workload. She also mentions that the temperature is up and rising, and that they are currently experiencing nightly duststorms, thunder and lightning and even a few spots of rain, dropping the temperature into the 30s. [EoS]

EUROPE

FRANCE:  Please pray for Amanda Hanley, who is a team leader on a volunteer basis caring for homeless people. It is sometimes difficult to find enough volunteers for any given evening. She has now been asked to take over the running of the programme for next winter, which will entail much planning and consultation. She has agreed to take on this responsibility, but some issues remain to be solved before she can proceed. Pray that the Lord will open or close the door. Jonathan continues with his theology studies at the seminary in Aix-en-Provence. Pray for him as he prepares to take his exams in June. [EoS]

FRANCE: Alain and Christine Monclair ask us to pray about the urgent need for a cook for the Centre des Jeunes camp centre at St. Lunaire in Brittany. The post is for six months, from May to October, and they need someone who is fluent in French and has a thorough knowledge of French-style cooking. Pray for the camp manager’s wife, Myriam, who is covering this job in addition to her normal duties. [EoS]

CZECH REPUBLIC: Carter & Chris Leshuk: "Evangelistic summer team from 22nd to the 29th of July: Lincoln Road Chapel in Waterloo, Ontario is planning to send a ministry team of 15 people to the Czech Republic this summer. The team leader has asked me to share their need for additional team members to join them this summer. The team's ministry would be facilitating and teaching conversational English to Czechs in small groups in the morning, spending time chatting in the afternoon, and providing an interesting evangelistic evening program in a family camp environment. This is the spiritual highpoint of the evangelistic ministry for the year. The size of the camp can easily exceed 100 people due to a strong demand from people to have an 'immersion' English language experience. This requires a large team of native English speakers to provide quality teaching and effective evangelistic evening programs. If you are a native English speaker and have a willing heart to be used by the Lord, then please contact Marc Drader at mdrader@rim.com or (519) 743-7921. Please pray that the Lord would bring those team members and students He wants to be at this evangelistic summer camp." [MSC]

IRELAND: Colin & Rosemary Sheldon:  "The Evangelistic Bible Studies resumed for a further five weeks. It is great hearing the comments of those who come . . . but we pray that they will really believe in their hearts what they say. This series under the title of 'Forgiveness' is proving to be a real blessing and challenge. Please pray also for the 'tea' time after the studies." [MSC]

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND:  David and Kay Stevens request prayer for those who accepted the DVD ‘Still Looking’ after hearing the gospel at recent open-airs. [EoS]

ITALY:  Nesta Volle will be involved with the Women’s Conference in Poggio Ubertini on the 13th and 14th May. Please pray for the Lord’s blessing on this event. [EoS]

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: Noel and Liza McMeekin ask us to pray for their plans for summer outreach, which they are currently trying to sort out. Please pray especially for the camp, as places are filling up very quickly and some children will have to be refused. Pray that God will enable the right people to attend, in His will. [EoS]

NETHERLANDS: Tom & Patti Marinello:  Every other Friday night, at their request, eight men between 22 and 29 come to the house for a class on preaching. [These men] . . . comprise the future of this local assembly so the class is particularly important . . . Pray for these young men as they have been taking a more active and visible role in the life of the Dutch assembly where we fellowship." [MSC]

POLAND: Tomasz & Anne Stanczak:  "After a process of over two years, we have been granted permission by the city of Wroclaw to buy some land with the purpose of building a church building. The first time we applied, they refused our petition . . . Thanks to prayers, this warfare has been won. Within two weeks, Lord willing, we will officially own a piece of property to build on." [MSC]

PORTUGAL:  Grace Lovell would appreciate prayer as she speaks at the Setubal District Conference on 13th May. [EoS]

SPAIN:  Ken Barrett requests prayer for the Madrid Evangelical Olympics which take place on Saturday 13th May, in which children from around 90 different evangelical churches will be participating. This sporting competition is an effective means of evangelism, as it brings together many children and adults who have no other contact with the gospel. Please pray for dry weather, freedom from accidents, and an effective witness to those who do not yet know the Lord. [EoS]

SPAIN:  Ray and Eunice Cawston request prayer for four people who are to be baptised in Murcia on Sunday 14th May. Please pray, too, for a Celebration Concert being held in the main University auditorium on 13th May. This event is sponsored by the Vista Alegre church and four others.

SPAIN:  Jesus and Helen Ortiz seek prayer for a special 25th anniversary celebration, due to be held on 13th May, to mark the founding of the assembly in Soria. A varied programme has been arranged and we are asked to pray that meaningful contacts will be made and that lives will be touched by the gospel, as the assembly members reflect on God’s goodness to them over the years. [EoS]

SPECIAL AREAS

Charles and Gloria Morris are settling into life in the USA, and have got all the books and papers they need for their work. Please pray for their residency papers to come through.

Charles Morris also asks us to pray about a situation that has arisen with regard to the women’s magazine for which Gloria is responsible. The postal authorities in Seville, in Spain, have suspended the use of postal sacks for sending the magazines to Argentina and some other countries by sea, and this means that the cost of sending them will be doubled. Please pray that they will be able to find a solution to this problem, as the magazine is such a blessing to those who receive it. [EoS]

FINALLY:  Phil Wagner, who is commended from the USA and is the founder of Set Free Prison Ministries, advised last week that his six-month-old granddaughter Rylie was making steady progress in the right direction after her heart surgery. The doctors felt that the surgery had been successful and were cautiously optimistic that she had not suffered any brain damage. She was taken off the respirator and came out of the critical care unit for a few hours. However, she is now back in critical care as she has developed a breathing problem which is causing much concern. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors as they try to discover the cause of this problem and give appropriate treatment. Pray, too, for her parents and other family members as they pass through this uncertain and frightening time. [EoS]
