AFRICA
ZAMBIA: Margaret Gould: "D.V., I will
be going to Angola the first week of May. The brethren hope to have a
conference. We are quite concerned about the conditions of the roads, but trust
that the Lord will give us safe travel. There is such a thirst for the Word in
that land, and a lot of work to be done." [MSC]
ZAMBIA: Gordon and Ruth
Hanna: The work [to add two sections to the hospital] started six
weeks ago and is now at the finishing stages with electrical work, plumbing and
painting remaining. The addition is to accommodate a well-needed dental and eye
room and an ICU for the ever-increasing number of patients that come to the
hospital." [MSC]
AMERICAS
BOLIVIA:
Enoel and Leisa Suarez: "Please pray for our safety as we travel
to a ten day conference. We are taking 400 books to help leaders. Many or all of
the leaders who live in the jungle near the rivers don't have Christian books or
access to a library. It is our desire that they will continue teaching God's
Word." [MSC]
EL SALVADOR: Helen
Griffin: "We have been looking at different properties to buy, if
the Lord wills and provides, and we would ask for your prayers in this
regard. The house that we have fits our house needs very well, but now
that the children are older, they need to be kept occupied always. We have no
space for them to keep a pet, to grow things, to run and play at all where we
are and we feel that now is the time to look elsewhere for more space. We would
love to also get out of this corrupt city environment if possible, but we look
to the Lord to lead and guide us." [MSC]
MEXICO:
Eglon and Judith Harris have arrived safely in Mexico. They request
prayer for a two-night gospel effort on 21st and 22nd April, and for the young
people’s camp. [EoS]
PERU: Luis and Anne-Laure Mostacero request
prayer for Tony Cullen, from Northern Ireland, who is currently involved in
dentistry work in some towns in Peru, until the end of the month. The work has
gone well so far, so please pray for his continued protection and for
opportunities to share the gospel.
[EoS]
PERU: Eric
and Donna McKinley: The portable hall is now essentially in place
in the village of Vista Alegre. It will especially provide for the Sunday school
needs . . . There will be ample space for a more effective learning environment;
and, with electric light being installed this week, there will be the
possibility of evening sessions with families."
[MSC]
PERU:
Micah and Amy Tuttle: "I had a blast teaching evangelism to a
group of 11 students. We had students from the jungle, the mountains, and a few
more from the coast - all of whom are leaders in their respective assemblies. It
is so exciting to teach people who are motivated to learn, and are going to have
an impact on the places that they come from."

ASIA
INDIA: Dr Stephen Alfred advises
that Lok Hospital is still struggling with council permissions for the new
hospital. Construction was due to start the first week of January, and prayer is
requested that work will start soon. The first week of May seems to be the most
likely start date – please pray that this deadline will be kept. The current
building and the small AIDS centre a short distance away have insufficient space
to cater for the number of patients.

INDIA: Please pray for the Indian states of Rajasthan,
Orissa, Gujarat and Karnataka, where the Christians are persecuted
on false charges and in many places their properties are seized. The Governments
in many of these states are run by the right-wing Hindu religious party.
Also pray that evangelists and brethren are able to withstand the persecutions
and be more faithful in their witness of the Lord.
JAPAN: Ken and Christine mention that on 21st
April they will be having a special outreach with a well-known Japanese
evangelist. Personal invitations have been prepared and given out to unsaved
family members, and general invitations have also been made. Please pray for a
time of reaping. A number of new people are expected to attend the monthly
English service on 23rd April. Please pray that the Lord will speak to their
hearts. [EoS]
PAKISTAN: Murree Christian School
requires a Director; an HS Principal; a Guidance Counsellor; a NILD Therapist;
teachers of Music, Spanish, French, German, Biology and English; a Pastor; and a
Director for Development (Building, etc). Please pray that suitable candidates
will be found to fill these positions in good time for the new school year, and
if you are interested in helping in any capacity, please contact Larry Cutherell
e-mail: <director@mcs.org.pk>.

NEPAL: Sam G. John : We are heading to a
historic moment, it seems. It has been too long and people in Nepal have
suffered a lot. The democratic movement started by 7 political parties has
become a mass movement within 11 days (in 1990 it took almost 5 weeks to reach
that level) and is heading for a show down. For the first time in history,
churches within the ring road in Kathmandu could not conduct worship services
last week due to continued curfew. We kept praying within closed doors! King was
staying in Pokhara for the last one month and has returned to Kathmandu on 12th.
Police suppression was brutal though independent media has highlighted it. The
demonstrations so far were peaceful and Maoists seem to be watching closely
without much action. It is a more complicated situation now, than in 1990 but
very similar. Pray that we will see and end to all this soon with minimum loses
of lives. Already more than a dozen have been killed and many hundreds injured-
many head injuries. Literally nothing functioning here- Schools, hospitals,
government offices, shops, transportations are closed . Let us continue to pray
that God will prove that He still reigns over the kingdoms and He is God over
the gods of the land!!

THAILAND: Peter and Peggy Ferry are currently visiting
Malaysia, where Peter is speaking at an Easter conference in Taiping. The
following week, Peter is teaching at the Bible school there. Peggy will have a
special meeting with the ladies in Taiping on 17th. The following weekend, they
move on to Penang, where Peter will speak on the Sunday morning - 23rd -
and then at a missions meeting that evening. Please pray for safe travel and for
the Lord’s blessing on these meetings.

EUROPE
ALBANIA: George and Nancy Sturm: "April 21 we
are travelling to Kosova for a conference on creation and evolution that Joshua
Miekley has organized. He also had scheduled a debate for me at the local
university with another professor, but he ended up having a heart attack
(hopefully not from the pressure of debating!), and no other professor was
willing to take his place. Anyhow, please pray that this conference would be a
blessing for all who attend." [MSC]
AUSTRIA:
Rosemary Atkinson requests prayer for her contacts, including Micki,
who went into hospital for investigation into a tumour in the kidney area. The
outcome was the need for surgery, which he was scheduled to have on 29th March.
However, the day before, he received the news that his father had died in
another part of the hospital, so his operation was postponed in order that he
could deal with the sad situation at home. The operation has been rescheduled
for later this month. Micki’s mother is in a depressed state – please pray that
she can be helped spiritually. Thank God that Micki received an indication that
his father had received the Lord the day before he died. In addition, Rosemary
would value prayer for preparation for the ‘Deutschland Treff’ in June, an
occasion when the deaf from all over Germany get together to listen to speakers
and take part in workshops on different themes. Rosemary’s role will be teaching
seminars on children’s work. [EoS]
FRANCE: Odette
Beauregard: "On May 1, there is a big gathering for the
assembly churches in the region . . . I am heading up the music ministry and Ad
Vitam [a singing group] will be performing. This will be a good occasion to let
the people know who we are and what our ministry seeks to do."
[MSC]
PORTUGAL: Colin and
Grace would also like to thank those who prayed for the children’s and
young people’s special Easter pageant. The event went well, and after a short
talk by the pastor, many people prayed to accept the Lord into their lives.
Please pray that they will join the fellowship to be helped and discipled.

SPAIN: Ken and
Alison Barrett ask prayer that the local mayor will give time to an
interview with the president of the Evangelical Council of Madrid on behalf of
the Alcala churches. Planning goes ahead for an evangelical stand at the Alcala
Book Fair from 21st April to 2nd May. Although the organising responsibility has
now been delegated to another evangelical church in the city, various people
from the assembly will be involved as volunteers. Please pray that the
Scriptures and sound literature will interest members of the public and that
profitable conversations and contacts will result.

SPECIAL
AREAS
Neale and
Barbara Goetsch: "Response to the 'From Creation to Christ'
studies has been very encouraging. There are many questions after each meeting
from both believers and seekers . . . Diversity in culture, language and
educational background has become a blessing... We pray that the months
ahead will bring us closer to the reality of a well-established local
church." [MSC]
