Dear Friends
I have received requests for news about the current situation in Kenya and this mail is in
response. Thanks to the generous support of many, the African 'Assembly Aid Abroad Advisory
Committee' under the guidance of Peterson Otieno (Treasurer) and Daniel Ochieng (Secretary)
are distributing aid to believers who are in desperate straight, and also supplying limited help to
refugees impacting on our churches. Famine usually follows war, but it is hoped that the people
will be able to plant the crops on time in March and April, thus averting an even greater tragedy.
We received good support for the Kenya Relief Fund, and the problem is distribution and
communication in a lawless society. Daniel and Peterson are in great danger as they give out
large sums of money by African standards. There is enough funds for about one month left, but
we still do not have exact figures on how many, and in what areas, that help is needed. We will
need this and probably more, as our general fund is facing increased demand because the cost
of living for the workers has trebled. We have just sent over an increase of support of about 25%
across the board.
William Akoto says the new church plant at Navasha has been decimated, some killed and
others have fled. He gives no other details as he cannot yet travel without risk to his own life and
all our workers are now grounded to their tribal areas until peace returns. Pray for the politicians
in this, and that the Lord will quieten the spirit of the people.
Today I have received an e-mail from Vivian Tesola, a widow in Kapenguria where the new
church has also been decimated. There are three widows and 10 orphans from the Akamba
tribe trapped and under police guard in a police station. We will be moving them back to their
own tribal areas asap. Probably costing about $900. They also need African mud walled houses,
costing about $500 each. Then they need to re-establish some business to earn income. They
have lost everything and one, Sarah, has also lost her husband Amos, shot by police. No one is
safe when rioting occurs and police shoot indiscriminately. We hope to soon move from food
support to providing housing, then help to start a small business.
The current crisis has greatly hindered the work, but we trust God to bring blessing out of the
tragedy. We believe things have quietened down somewhat, but as I write homes and a church
are burning in Kapengurai, so there are pockets of intertribal rage still being poured out. Kenya
has been set back decades.
Your prayers are valued.
His service
Albert Fairweather

water no clothes. May God bless you.Yours in christ sister, Vivian
22/2/08: Dear uncle Albert, Thank you very much for your spiritual email. It has encouraged us
so much. As a widow am afraid to mention my problems. Do you know that this morning houses
have been burned in Kapenguria by the Kikuyu and a church is being burned. Amos's wife Sarah
is Akamba. We are THREE WIDOWS AND TEN ORPHANS WHO NEED TO BACK to their
residential place. We need about 50.000 to transport goods and built small houses for use as
we can not return to Kapenguria again. The good Samaritan have helped greatly to stay at police
station with orphans by giving us some food. James has done the best to send us gifts to us
which you sent. The Pokot and Luo are very harsh to us uncle. Pray for us daily. In case you want
to support us to return to homes just send the gift to James we will appreciate. Tribalism has
entered into the churches, no peace at all. Let us hear from you soon the step you have taken
uncle. I have written to James this morning am waiting his reply also. We are standing at the

Peterson Otieno, Treasurer of AAA Advisory Committee
14/2/08: The situation is still hot and rough owing to the political crisis that has not yet been
resolved, though the mediation talks are going on. People are killing, torching houses and
evicting others, most people have fled from their homes and thousands of families are
displaced. Fuel and food prices have tripled and continue to rise day after day and so survival is
very tough. There is still a lot of tension and illegal roadblocks put by gangs, out for killing, looting
and destruction of property, yesterday the President talked very strong on this so we will wait to
see what happens. Transportation is still a big problem because of increased fuel prices.
Continue to pray with us in this difficult time, and for the healing of Kenya. The letters you had
sent I got today and most of the funds for distributions for the relief is being given out, except We
are sending the relief financial report on what has come in and used and the balance up to date,
you go through it and you will tell us what is not right. The funding for projects can hold for the
time being because of the situation in this country. Thanks and Greetings. Peterson Otieno

Alex Masika, Webuye, north west Kenya
20/2/08: Dear Uncle Al, We greet you in the loving name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I appreciate
your prayers and love towards Kenya . Condoleezza Rice is in the nation today meeting both the
president and the main challenger to look on the way to immediately stop the violence, form a
transitional government and restore democracy. Continue praying that this will help restore the
nation and give us peace, This is a situation that has found us and we will never want to see it
happen any time. The innocent blood has gone to the ground and this keeps torturing our minds.
We visited yesterday and helped the families that were displaced, ministering to them and
encouraging them to forget about the problems they have faced. There was a woman who had
delivered her baby and needs more help looking at the situation at the camp. We gave them what
we had but it seemed like a drop of grain in the sea. The nation has been torn to pieces and
poverty has increased on a high rate, the percentage of windows and orphans have gone up and
hatred still reigns in people hearts. Now believers in Kenya are wishing for Jesus to come us
soon as he can, while those who have had weak faith asking themselves where God was when
these things were happening. Our humble request is that you continue to stand with Kenya in
this hard times. We have attached pictures of the relief we gave yesterday. Please keep praying
for this nation. God bless. Your brother Alex

John Mbeke, Namoboto – a new church, a recent convert and a policeman
12/2/08: Dear uncle Albert, Sorry for not writing to you for a length of time, this is because I was
transferred to remote areas where there is no power no vehicle with a lot of problems as election
took place. By now am sick after hammered with three arrows as we tried to cool the youths in
Kitale. Am at home after dismissed from the hospital yesterday. I have called James and he has
sent 10.000 for treatment. We thank you uncle for the gift you gave of 20,000 last month through
James which helped the orphans and widows because there is no food at all. Now uncle am
unable to walk and I ask you to help with a bicycle for travel and 9000 to help to buy drugs. Pray
for Kenya, pray for Christians who are suffering greatly. May I hear from you or from James. God
bless you. Yours in Christ service John, Naboboto church

James Omwando, evangelist and church planter to above churches. he is in the front line of
support and in danger
12/2/08: HI Uncle AL. Greetings in Jesus name. I only received 30,000 for Vivian but I will call on
Peterson for more 20,000. Last Monday we were in danger as I, Daniel and Peterson at KISII. We
were locked in Tursker Supermarket for two hours. People were fighting at Kisii but we were not
harmed. There was no way to pass to Rongo but I took Peterson and Daniel (who are Luo,
James is Kisii, these tribes are fighting each other) through to Ogembo, to Nyagacho and I
helped them to the boundary of Kisii and Luo. In Maasai church the father of the deacon was
beaten to death Sunday, I was there to comfort them. In short things are worse and worse Uncle.
Peterson can not travel to Nairobi till further notice.
Remember things now are very high for instance one sack of beans is 5,000 and is 2000. Thank
you for your support and prayers. In Kuria Daniel says he needs urgent assistance of 20,000 to
feed the displaced people who are staying in Church after chased from Migori. The Luo burned
the hospital of the MP of Kuria which was built in Migori. There is no peace between Luo and
Kikuyu and Kisii. Uncle thank you for your support and prayer. I will inform you more reports on
Monday. In Nyagacho we have 10 displaced and they need assistance of food, clothes, and
education. May I hear from you soon. God bless you. Yours, James

William Akoto, Kopanga
11/2/08: Dear Uncle, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. After much hectic time,
political confusion’, deaths, loss of properties we are safe under the grace of God. We are
starting to see some hope of peace and security along the country. Most churches are safe and
are going on for God though under great economic stress. The cost of living has gone up and
it's not affordable to most of the members with low income. Many do come to me seriously
overwhelmed with the lack of basic needs. As a result I am asking you to extend some hand of
help to support these desperate members. Many family members now have new members who
have fled for safety from afflicted towns. About 400,000 ($7000) would help them start some
small businesses to make them economically independent. We have lost the Naivasha Church
due to the hot war which was there, some were killed and some fled for safety in peace zones. I
am making contacts to find if I can go and visit the remnants in their fled zones to encourage and
exhort them in the Lord. Pray for the work and Kenya at large.
Yours in His service, Uncle Willy.

James Omwando, Nyagacho, South West Kenya
Dear Uncle: Greeting in Jesus name. We need your prayer and support for this period. We are
suffering greatly uncle since election took place. My brethren from Kapenguria are in great
problems as two believers were killed on 5th this month. Daniel in Kuria (on the Tanzanian
border west of the Masai Marah) is very sick after being beaten by the unknown people. In short
things are totally bad. In Eldoret Christians were killed while they were celebrating the new year
75 were burned and 750 without houses.
Meeting with Peterson or Daniel is a problem. Yesterday Daniel called through a phone and said
he is not in Rongo as there is no peace at his homeland. Peterson also has the same problem.
Now uncle we need urgent help from you and AAA committee to assist us. Washington's (house
or business?) was burned in Rongo. We need assistance of 80,000 Ksh (A$1800) to help
various churches since there is no food especially at Kapenguria. Daniel Ochieng needs 20,000
Ksh (A$400) for this problem. Uncle Peterson also needs 20,000 Ksh for the same problem.
Can you please send this money direct through Western Union so that we can get it and help the
affected people. Peterson and Daniel are not able to come Kisii as there is no peace. Can you
please advice us what to do. Things are so expensive - double.
We need your prayer uncle. We need your reply today.
God bless you
Yours, James
