"Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift." 2 Cor.9:15
Loving Christian greetings from Kenya. We would like to thank God and appreciate your
prayers for us during the past three years. The Lord has been doing great things! May
His mighty and everlasting name be glorified. During the last three months, we could
see tremendous spiritual blessings from God. Through the prayers and efforts of
Githurai Brethren Assembly, another Assembly came into being in BUSIA, a border town
of Kenya and Uganda, which is 550 kms from Nairobi. This was made possible by God
through Bro. Hillary Onyango who was trained in our Assembly for the past two and a
half years. BUSIA is Hillary's home town, too. This is the first Assembly in the western
province of Kenya - Kenya has eight provinces. A baptism of eight believers was held
recently there and 13 believers now regularly partake from the Lord's table. We plan to
make visits to this place on a regular basis. Please uphold this new Assembly in your
prayers.
Another important matter of praise to God: we have had a number of God's servants as
visitors in the months of July and August 2007. Several Assemblies, including Githurai,
were blessed by the teachings of Dr. Alexander Kurian (USA), Abraham Chacko (USA)
and Biju Samuel (Oman) together with uncle Albert Fairweather (Australia), Mike Lord
(New Zealand) and Jacob Varghese (Kenya). We are edified, encouraged and enriched
by the ministry of these God's servants. All the conferences - Githurai, Rongo and
Kopanga - were well attended and a blessing. God has given us the joy of having
blessed fellowship with these brethren. They all got adjusted with the minimum facilities
that are available here, especially in the "bush" side of the country. As churches are
growing, we are planning to start a short-term discipleship training from January 2008
onwards. We intend to hold this in Githurai where we are planning to build an
accommodation for 20 Bible School participants. A great thirst for God's Word can be
seen everywhere. Please pray for a one-week seminar to be conducted in Githurai
based on the Book of James by Br.John Fleming in the first week of October 2008. This
year, God has opened many ministry opportunities among the Asian minority
community, although the focus of our ministry is to the locals. We also see the
possibility of a having a city Assembly in the near future if it is in the will of the Lord. I
request your special prayer in this regard.
Above all, it is a matter of great joy to have the company and fellowship of Bro. Jacob
Varghese (Happy) and family in the ministry here. They are slowly settling down to the
African life. God has been good to my family as well. During the last three years, I drove
around 50,000 kms through the African rough roads. Thank God that myself and vehicle
were protected by the mighty hand of God. It was only possible by the grace and
strength from the Lord. All glory is due unto Him Who uses these weaker vessels (who
could not do much without the His help). We appreciate your love and prayers for this
part of the world. We know, by witnessing what is happening here, that hundreds are
praying for us. Please keep on praying.
In Master's Glorious service
